#UGDecides’18: SRC Elections End In A Run Off Between Two Candidates

After being postponed twice, the SRC elections came off on Monday, 23rd April, 2018 and students of the University of Ghana, Legon turned out in their numbers to vote for their preferred choice of who should take over from the Otting led administration.

After voting manually between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, results were counted and from the figures collated, there will be a repetition of last year’s elections: A runoff!!!

The runoff will be between Clement Bofa Oppong and Sylvester Amoako (Citizen Sly) since both candidates could not make the threshold of securing more than 50% plus of the votes to be declared winners.

These are the results:


Derrick Schandorf Ayirebi-Acquah and Senaya Aku Dzidedi
Total Votes: 317
Percentage: 5.30%

Sylvester Amoako and Adom Anorkwah
Total Votes: 1835
Percentage: 30.40%

Clement Bofa-Oppong and Kwaku Afful Appiah

Total Votes: 2174

Percentage: 36.00%

Ewura Adams Karim and Nana Akua Busia
Total Votes: 1236
Percentage: 20.50%

Kingsley Adu-Otchere and Maimuna Zakaria Adam
Total Votes: 330
Percentage: 5.50%

The date for the runoff has been scheduled for Thursday, 26th April, 2018.
