Power Outage To End Soon, UCC Management Assures

Students and staff of the University of Cape Coast have endured a 3-day power outage that has left most parts of the university engulfed in total darkness at night.

This has impeded academic and personal work during the day. Halls, hostels and lecture theatres located on the main campus have been identified as the worst hit areas of the power outage.

In the interim, halls and other facilities ration the amount of electricity they have on hand from their generators and plants, yet a majority of the students have complained to Kuulpeeps.com about how insufficient the rationed electricity is.

However, in a chat with KuulpeepsUCC, the current SRC President, Henry Arthur revealed that the power challenge is due to a faulty cable beneath the ground that needs a special machine to detect the faulty part.

Unfortunately, there are only two of such machines in Ghana, both are controlled by national security. The closest one is kept in a storage in Takoradi.

Hence management is collaborating with ECG to get the machine to UCC to detect the exact faulty part of the cable that has been laid underground.

Management says it’s hopeful that by the end of the day national security would have brought the detector to UCC to aid in a faster resolution of this problem.
