Ghanaian Residents In The Diaspora Have Been Asked To Apply For National Service

lol… you think you can attend tertiary abroad and not do your national service in Ghana erh?

See, as long as you’re a Ghanaian citizen who is 18 years and above, it doesn’t matter where in the world you studied – you are mandated to do your national service.

There is a compulsory national service ahead of you whether you studied in Ghana or abroad. has obtained a release from the National Service Scheme that is urging all Ghanaian residents in the diaspora who are eligible, to sign up for the 2018/2019 national service year.

It quoted the Ghana National Service Scheme Act, 1980, Act 426 which “imposes a duty on all Ghanaians of 18 years and above to do national service for a minimum duration of one year” to back its call.

“Eligible applicants who are resident abroad and are of age 18 years and above may personally submit their application letters to the Diaspora Affairs office at the Presidency (Jubilee House) or the NSS Head Office in Accra or log onto the scheme’s website and provide the required information.

The deadline is April 30, 2018.
