We are tired of these fraudsters always trying different ways to steal money from people.

Moving past “Sakawa”, mobile money fraud and the latest private phone calls from supposed relatives in Europe and America wanting money to clear goods from the port, the fraudsters have upped their game.

This time, they are targeting customers and potential customers of one of the money institutions in the country.

Nana Appiah Mensah’s Menzgold Ghana has been targeted by fraudsters.

A WhatsApp message has been making rounds asking people to join a particular group where they make contributions to fellow members.

Members of the group are promised 100% interest on their investment within 1 to 48 hours and the investment packages range from GHS 50 to GHS 400.

Below is the fraudulent WhatsApp message in full:

It will help to note that Menzgold is spelt here as Mensgold, swapping the “Z” for an “S”. That is the first warning sign.

But to stop you from even assuming that it’s just a typo, Menzgold itself has released a disclaimer disassociating itself from its WhatsApp clone.

“We wish to draw the attention of both clients and the general public to a WhatsApp group purported to act as Menzgold representatives with a new product called Mensgold cash, launching March 27, 2018 (today),” Menzgold statement read.

… and that “management wishes to say that Menzgold Ghana Co Ltd has no product bearing that name and identity, and therefore cautions the general public and cherished clients to consider this as fraudulent.”

Peeps, be careful and don’t send your money to any hard to trace, unidentifiable group.
