The battle of brains and wits!!!

The Independence Day Debate Tournament kicked off on Saturday, March 3rd as anticipated.
Students from the Zenith University College brought their best brains, to battle it out with the prestigious University of Ghana Debate Society.

Since it was an Independence Debate distin, teams were named in relation to monumental places and happenings in Ghana. Among these were Elmina Castle, Salaga slave market, Cape Coast Castle, 1948 Riots, Polo grounds and oh, Door of No Return. In all, a total of 22 teams competed.

The loudest team, of course, was team ‘Door of no return’ also known as Team Wakanda!! After five rounds of brains and wits, eight teams progressed to semis: Fante Confederation, Cristianborg castle, Fort orange, Seychelles Island, Polo Ground, 1951 Strike, Salaga Slave Market and 1956 Plebiscite.

Out of these, only four teams qualified to the finals, including an all-female team *wink* …yeah Affirmative action in action!!! Surprisingly,  Team Wakanda was nowhere to be found. LOL!

The competition ended on an interesting note with the all-female team emerging winners of the competition. Team 1951 strike!!!!!
