Peeps, yesterday we told y’all about an apparent armed robbery attack on the University of Cape Coast campus.
The story provided students accounts of how armed men took away their phones and other valuables while studying in a lecture hall.
However, a statement from UCC and copied to Kuulpeeps.com claims that the alleged incident never happened.
According to Maj K Baah Bentum(rtd), Director of Public Affairs UCC, checks by the management of the University of Cape Coast have indicated that the alleged armed robbery attack on students of the University of Cape Coast who were learning at the G Block on Friday, 23rd March, 2018, was a hoax.
When the news broke on Friday, the University Security Section sent some men to ascertain the truth in the allegations. No suspects or incidents were reported by the students who the security men interacted with, according to the Head of Security is ACP (rtd) Johnson OWUSU Agyeman.
“The security men left the scene after ensuring that there were no threats to any student who was learning at the venue,” he added.
The statement emphasized that management wishes to assure students that measures are in place to ensure the safety of all students and that “students are encouraged to report any suspicious persons to the nearest security man on campus to help flash out the bad elements.”
