Senior High School Students Forced To Write End Of Term Exams On Their Laps

So this is no secret and we don’t need a rocket scientist to tell us that Ghana’s educational system lacks resources.

We have read and told y’all about gut-wrenching stories involving students lying on the ground during lessons because of lack of desks.

But never have we ever told you about senior high school students forced to write end of term exams on their laps because there weren’t enough desks.

These students at Brakwa Secondary Technical School (Brastec) in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District of Central Region wrote their end of term exams on their laps.

That’s due to insufficient furniture.

On a normal school day, the students sit on the available desks in pairs or sometimes three students are allocated a desk.

However, because the teachers want to avoid cheating during the exams, the two or three students to a desk policy was reviewed to one student one desk.

According to Evans Kwaku Oboafi, who notified about this story said, the form three students and some of the form two students are writing their exams on a desk.

Meanwhile, most of the form one students are writing their end of term exams on their laps. Not to talk of writing difficult papers such as Mathematics and Integrated Science on one’s laps…

He said though the member of parliament for the area, Anthony Effah donated 200 desks to the school some weeks ago, that was not enough for the students.

Clearly, this is not a good learning environment.
