Happy Birthday, Ghana! Another year and another day to celebrate the Black Star nation. Brands and individuals all over the nation wished the nation the best of luck as we remembered the heroes who fought for the freedom of the nation.
61 years down the line and the battle is still being fought. We are not talking about the battle for Ghana’s freedom but the battle to stand out among competitive brands who wish Ghana well during her birthday. This year has been no different from previous years but the one thing we know this year is that Access Bank Ghana is winning the competition. Let’s tell you why.
First of all, this happened…
Last month, they were top of social media rankings for financial institutions for the third time running and they’ve transferred that unique and creative edge to print with their amazing ad in the newspapers. The ad basically tells you to save the little you have to obtain the financial freedom you deserve in the future and what better way to express this than using Shatta Wale’s ‘Freedom’ song.

The hit song which is primarily having just two words as its lyrics (Freedom and Shatta) turned heads in the country as to how a song with just two words could get a whole country buzzing. Access bank decided to use that to depict how one can start saving small to make it big. Just like the song, the ad is making waves and not just in the newspapers but on social media with people admiring their creativity. Shatta Wale even added his voice to it after being tagged in it by a fan. He called the move, ‘smart’

The ad was run for Access Bank by DigIT, the digital arm of their marketing agency, EchoHouse Ghana Limited. A 360 marketing agency in Ghana pushing the agenda of marketing through creativity and ingenuity. We’re wondering if other brands can really #ShowUpLikeEcho?
