Take A Look At The UENR SRC Progress Report For This Semester

uenr

Hey Kuulpeeps, this is an update report from the UENR SRC.

They want all of us to be abreast with all the measures they are putting in place to make sure our stay in school is stress-free.

Take note of the following so that in case you see it happening on campus you will have an idea why it is happening.

  • Students are hereby informed that effective this semester Clinic hours at the school’s sick bay has been extended to 8 pm with additional health personnel with the aid of the SRC’s strong advocacy. Students are therefore encouraged to patronize the school’s clinic as their first port of call when sick.
  • A refund policy has now been implemented. Any student who accesses healthcare from the Regional hospital, SDA Hospital and the Municipal hospital would have their health bill refunded by the school. Any student who accesses healthcare from these places should contact the Welfare Committee Chairman.
  • The SRC is indeed grateful for a breakthrough in negotiations with regards to better internet access on campus. We are grateful to announce that, funding for the GHANet, a European Union subsidised internet facility for Ghanaian Universities has been secured and the first Wireless test run would be carried out between the end of February to 14th March 2018.
  • Enough provisions have been made for students at the Dormaa Campus to access healthcare delivery at the Dormaa Government hospital. Students can now receive preferential treatment. The fruit of strong advocacy is to give good health care to our students.
  • Parliamentary approval has been given for the construction of summer huts. Design of the summer hut has subsequently been subjected to further architectural changes by the Vice Chancellor. This should pave way for the Construction of a minimum of six (6) summer huts at vantage points on campus come next week.
  • After a long and difficult discussion, negotiations to purchase an SRC bus has proved futile. Hence, the Executive Committee has resolved to commit GHC 150,000.00  to a legacy fund that should provide funding for the purchase of a bus in the next 3years. In view of this development, the much-awaited shuttle system would be delayed.
  • The SRC wishes to inform the general student body that a business and idea challenge competition would soon be launched after parliamentary approval is given. We are therefore sensitising the general student body to be ready to brace this wonderful competition that seeks to celebrate student innovation and enterprise.
  •  The SRC is strongly advocating for strong security personnel in and around the campus during odd hours. Students are assured of their safety this semester and beyond.
  • To further boost security on the Zinco stretch of road, we are indeed proud to announce that the good office of the VC and Dean of students have heeded to our calls to provide extra solar lightning to the Zinco junction.
  • For the first time since the inception of the university, the Health Committee has been established. This is the fruit of strenuous and meticulous efforts by the Boamah-led administration to help solve healthcare related issues.
  • Parliamentary Council is set to pass the SWAP. A very critical policy that will provide insurance certainty to students who lose their guardians during their period in school. The Council would in the coming days outline a policy for an extended public forum so that students are well abreast with the package of the insurance.

If there are any updates to this, trust that we would be the first to let you know about them.
