A rather despicable video went viral on social media, showing a mortuary attendant touching and examining the badly injured bodies of the deceased dancehall artiste, Ebony Reigns and her friend Franky Kuri.
The video was widely criticized and has since been taken down by Facebook after several Ghanaians reported the video.
Now the Ghana Police Service has opened an investigation into the issue.
“It is a crime. Section 281 of the Criminal Offenses Act talks about offences related to obscenity and so far as you are showing the nude pictures of somebody, it is related to obscenity and it’s a crime and there is the need for us to take action…,” Chief Superintendent Herbert Gustave Yankson, Director in charge of the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service said in an interview with Hitz FM.
He said it is also a crime to be in possession of, distribute or circulate obscene material.
Ebony’s father, Nana Opoku Kwarteng has also reportedly threatened to sue the mortuary where this gross video was recorded.
Ebony Reigns was killed in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi highway after visiting her mother on February 8. Her friend and assistant, Franky Kuri, and their bodyguard, Francis Atsu Vondee also did not survive the crash.
