
The Tax Identification Number (TIN) is issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). This is used to pay taxes, but now the government has directed that the DVLA and banks must not issue licenses or accounts to people who don’t have the TIN.

Below are some FAQ for TIN Application
- Can I apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number if I am not in the country?
Yes. You can apply for a TIN from anywhere in the world so long as you can access the internet.
You will have to do the following:
- Go to GRA’s website gra.gov.gh. Go to DOWNLOADS and select FORMS and select Taxpayer Registration Form – Individual (http://www.gra.gov.gh/docs/forms/taxpayer_registration_form_individual.pdf)
- Download pdf file and complete and sign form. (please read instructions)
- Scan completed document and relevant ID document
- Email scanned documents as attachments to the third party for completion of third-party section and submission to any GRA Domestic Tax Revenue Division Tax Office for processing
- Can I apply for an Individual TIN online?
Yes, you can apply for an Individual TIN online if you have an email address and one of the following VALID Ghana ID cards:
- Driver Licence
- Voter ID
- National ID
To submit TIN application online do the following:
- Go to GRA’s website – gra.gov.gh
- Select Online Tax Portal (DTRD) under ONLINE SERVICES or go directly to following address (https://egovonline.gegov.gov.gh/EghanaWeb/GRAHome/eghana.portal)
- Click on Application for Individual TIN to start the application process and submit the application for processing. (Read Guide – Online TIN Registration for details on the process)
- How long does it take to get a TIN?
It takes between one to four days to process and issue a TIN. This depends on the method of application.
- Applications submitted through the online process is processed for TIN within a day.
- Applications submitted manually may take up to four days
- How much does it cost to apply for a TIN?
Application for TIN is FREE.
- Can someone else complete the form for me?
No. The completion of TIN application form is the responsibility of the applicant. The application has to be completed and signed by the Applicant. However, the third party section allows for a third person to complete section to submit completed and signed application.
