You must know by now that, Accra Academy is our High School for the month of February!
Just as we are bringing back those nostalgic high school moments, we want you to learn a thing or two about the Accra Aca crest.
The Accra Academy school crest is a shield divided into four sections.
Just like the coat of arms of a country or the national flag, the Accra Academy school crest is packed with lots of objects with different meanings.
In the top section of the crest is the sun rising from the horizon; in the top right are three chains, below these is a cocoa tree; and in the bottom left is a palm tree.
At the top of the shield, is a lion; and below is the school’s Motto “Esse Quam Videri” which means, ‘To be, rather than to seem.’
It represents the Lion of Justice, exemplifying poise and controlled power.
The sun on the school crest represents the brilliance of knowledge, dispelling ignorance and superstition.
THE THREE CHAINS
The union of three chains stands for the Pauline virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love.
THE PALM TREE:
The palm tree thrives where other trees can hardly stand. Here it represents Triumph over environmental handicaps.
The cocoa tree shows the symbol of Ghana’s wealth. It means the proper use of wealth to sweeten the cares of life.
