Yes, it’s time of the year again when deserving artists will be celebrated and awarded for being the amazing people they are by The Kuenyehia Prize.

Twelve of Ghana’s young and inspiring artists have been shortlisted for the 2018 Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Ghanaian Art.

Damalie Esinam Rosemary, She describes herself as a lover of the Gospel, and artist, model, dancer and a music lover

Yaw Owusu, as an artist, Yaw likes to create expressive pieces with coins.

 

 

Daniel Cole Ofoe Amegavie, he is a photographer who has a keen interest in documenting Ghanaian festivals. He also likes taking photos of nature. He shot the still photography of “The Burial of Kojo”

 

 

 

Sedinam Awo Tsegah creates beautiful arts that question a person’s identity. This artist has mastered the art of using digital art and photoshop to produce spectacular pieces of art.

 

 

Lesley Kafui Semackor is into the area of fine arts. He documents African societies. He enjoys using brushes canvas and acrylic paints to create works of art that celebrate the beauty of Africa.

Caleb Aryee describes himself a photographer. He studied at Video Editing at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI). He currently manages SG Photography and BornBlack Studios.

Kuenyehia Prize

This is the 4th edition of the Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Ghanaian Art.

Established by Elikem Nutifafa Kuenyehia in 2014, the objective of the Kuenyehia Prize is to identify, reward and help develop Ghana’s most outstanding artists between the ages of 25 and 40. In addition to prize money and materials totalling twenty-five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 35,000), one winner and two runners-up will benefit from business training and coaching.

Nominations are invited each year, and the prize is judged by an independent jury.

Usually, ten artists are shortlisted, with an overall winner and two runner-ups selected by the Jury, however, 12 people were shortlisted this year.

    I can’t wait to be 24/25 to join this competition it’s so amazing and great to see this going on in Ghana .
