Bleached skin is a topical issue to Ghanaians. The idea of bleaching one’s skin is seen as self-hating and an attempt to further classify dark skin as ugly.

Last year, UK based Ghanaian Hiplife artiste, Fuse ODG led a campaign against Nivea after the cosmetic company mounted billboards that seemed to suggest that Ghanaians should strive to have light skin.

Becca, on the other hand, joins a list of celebrities that have been thought to have bleached. Actress Yvonne Nelson, singers Joyce blessing and Ama Boahema as well as a boxer, Bukom Banku have had their own share of bleaching bashing.

Since Becca’s bleaching allegations started on social media, the musician decided not to respond to rumours, until now.
