Kuulpeeps, you need to consider this story as coming from a place of love. All our stories come from a place of love, but this one is extra special.

You know that this Saturday, the Baby Jet boxing promotion, is organizing a bout between Emmanuel Tagoe and Fernando Saucedo.

Well, DSTVGhana’s umbrella company, MultiChoice Ghana has secured all broadcasting rights of the bout and they are threatening to sue anybody or media house that will rebroadcast the fight without their permission.

“No person, media station or event organizer is permitted to undertake a public screening, live or delayed broadcast or re-broadcast on any free to air, pay TV channel, social media platform or carryout radio commentary of this boxing bout,” a statement signed by Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, MultiChoice Ghana General Manager.

According to the statement, doing any of the above, including social media commentary “will constitute a direct violation of an interference with the program and channel distribution right of MultiChoice and other third parties.”

MultiChoice Ghana is prepared to undertake both civil and criminal sanctions against anybody who does not seek permission to broadcast from them.

Kuulpeep, if you’re planning on doing social media commentary, please make sure you are not breaking any media rights laws.
