The rivalry between these two halls, Continental and Katanga halls, goes way back and it lives on in the current generation of hall residents.
Last night Continental held a procession as part of its celebrations to commemorate “THAT DAY” (11TH OCTOBER) – the day they defeated KATANGA in a bloody clash.
From eye witnesses, as CONTI was heading towards Great hall on the road leading to KAT, (perhaps in an attempt to mock them), they were attacked by their rivals in a fierce stone battle.
Prepared, they pushed back and Continental students responded to the Katanga attack in kind. This resulted in a stone bath that required the presence of the police to restore calm on campus.
Reports indicate that some students on both sides of the feuding halls sustained some levels of injury.
Almost every semester, these two halls find a way to engage in some form of a scuffle.
Last semester, as the SRC elections heated up, the two halls attacked each other as they both campaigned for their preferred candidates.
