Days after the Atomic Junction gas explosion, we are now getting a true sense of the devastation that was caused.
One of the seven people who lost their lives from last Saturday’s horrific incident was Mohammed Ashiley Yakubu, who worked with Net 2 television as a cameraman and doubled as a member of President Akufo Addo’s Press Corps.
The mother of late journalist, Mary Sackey visited President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday. The President promised the grieving mother that he would personally pay for all of Yakubu’s funeral cost.
Reports have it that he rolled over from the Atomic Junction flyover unto the ground at the second explosion in his attempt to capture the tragedy. The late Yakubu is one of the four persons who died at the Police Hospital.
The Late Yakubu will be buried this morning according to Islamic custom.
Earlier, the president said “the country will know what our programme is, the comprehensive programme we intend to have to bring such incidents (gas explosions) to a stop.”
“Everybody involved in the industry must recognize that we all have to make adjustments to be able to guarantee the safety and security of our people, so these things do not happen again,” he said.
