This Is Why GIJ Has Withdrawn Its “Fake” Graduation List

There seems to be an uneasy calm at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) after the final GPAs of this year’s graduands resulted in a questionable graduation list.

After students drew the attention of the school to possible irregularities, the notice announcing the list of graduands with their respective classes was removed from the school’s notice board.

While some of the students claimed they were awarded lower graded classes, they also alleged that the school had awarded classes to students who had either deferred or were unable to write exams.

The Rector of GIJ, Dr. Wilberforce Dzisah confirmed the incident and stated that the anomaly was being rectified. He said the classes will be posted back on the school’s notice board latest by Friday.

“There is something that students should understand, if you have a referral the system will still capture you, whether you have that re-sit that you have not redeemed or not; they will capture and bring out the class, the class that you deserve,” he told Starr FM.

“I know there are those also who probably did not do well and who were thinking that some miracle will happen. There is no miracle when it comes to academic performance. Once you have not studied, you have not achieved what you are supposed to achieve in terms of the grades you are supposed to get in the classroom; nobody can change those grades for any individual,” he said.

Now the students will have to wait till tomorrow (Friday) to know the kind of degree they will be awarded.
