This Is Why More Than 35,000 BECE Candidates Did Not Gain Admission

Kuulpeeps, our junior brothers and sisters have done another “yawa”.

About 36,849 representing 8 per cent of the candidates who wrote this year’s BECE did not get admission into any Senior High School because they scored a Grade 9 in either English or Mathematics, the Ghana Education Service has said.

The results of about 1298 candidates have already been withheld by WAEC for allegedly cheating during the exam.

Meanwhile out of a total of 460,941 BECE candidates, about 424,092 candidates did qualify to be placed in any SHS under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

During this process, 267,327 candidates secured places in schools of their choice, whilst 150770 candidates could not be placed in a school of their choice.

They are being given the second chance of choosing a school.

“The qualified candidates who did not get a place of their choice should go online and select an option available within 48 hours from today”, GES said in a statement signed by Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the acting Director-General at GES.

Meaning, about 24 hours have expired already guys. Tell your BECE friends to check their placements now!

The students can check their status by logging onto and following the instructions.

The 2017/18 academic year for all Senior High Schools will commence on 11th September, 2017.

All Form One students are expected to report to their schools on that day.
