In recent years, KNUST has done quite a number of mind blowing stuffs. The institution invented an open-space fire detector, solar-powered traffic lights and drones to support the nation’s development processes.
Just over the weekend, the Mechanical department and Physics department in partnership with the Technical University of Munich, has constructed a solar-powered 4×4 vehicle.
The eco-friendly 4×4 vehicle, meant to carry passengers and goods, was inaugurated by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the 51st congregation of the KNUST, Kumasi, on Saturday.
Well, what makes the vehicle unique is that it is solar powered and when it’s finally completed, it will be the first of it’s kind in Africa.
The Chancellor of the KNUST, Otumfuo Osei Tutu , praised the team of researchers who worked on the project, and expressed the hope that the university will get more resources to help in such innovations.
Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor of the KNUST said the solar-powered vehicle was still being tested and tried over some period with the hope of fine-tuning it in order to bring it to standard.
