Jack and Jill School, located in Accra, will depend solely on solar energy and will no longer rely on power from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) by the end of this month.
According to the school, plans are far advanced to install solar panels to ensure regular power supply and do away with power outages and high tariffs.
Speaking to Class News after the school’s 42nd Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Day, the Managing Director of the school, Kwadwo Kwakye, revealed moves are being initiated to accomplish the agenda of self-sufficiency in energy.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Agyarko, has charged parents to empower their wards through formal education and also hold governments accountable on every educational policy.
According to the boss of former Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), a national educational policy is critical to the survival of the country and must not be left in the hands of politicians who keep shifting the duration of senior high school.
