Among the various awards presented, the first of it’s kind, “The Professor Henrietta Mensah-Bonsu Award for The Best Female Contestant” was given to Baba Mohammed Zuweira who represented her school, Tamale Senior High.
The 16 year old deserved the award as anyone who followed the competition keenly would remember how she answered questions with clarity and dexterity. She was awarded a cash prize of Five Thousand Ghanaian Cedis (GH5000).
Zuweira, lives in Sabrepor, Tema and hopes to gain admission into either University of Development Studies or Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to study medicine.
She aspires to become a lecturer someday with none other than the quiz mistress, Dr Elsie Effah Kaufmann as her role model.
On how she felt when she was first chosen to partake in the competition, she mentioned how happy she was to represent her school and admitted her first worry was the task of having to study more than she ever had.
Her advice to young people like herself is to “Work hard, concentrate and then you would be able to achieve whatever you want”
