A new governing council is to be constituted at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) within a week, the Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education has said.
“To me, the most important aspect of all this is the need for various councils or governing councils of the university, which have for the past several months haven’t been constituted to be constituted as soon as possible.” Professor Kwesi Yankah made this known on Monday after a closed-door meeting with the university’s authorities.
He also met the local leadership of the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG) at the Winneba campus.
He expressed government’s unhappiness about the recent shutdown of the university.
According to him, UEW must wait patiently for the verdict that the court will give, advising that it can still pursue the case if not satisfied with final judgement.
