A total of 1,813 students have been admitted into the University of Cape Coast to pursue various undergraduate and postgraduate sandwich programmes for the 2016/2017 academic year.

Of the number, 588 are undergraduates while 1,227 are postgraduate students. The figure comprises 967 males and 846 females.

Although a total of 2,504 people qualified candidates applied, only 1,813 could be admitted for the academic year.

At the matriculation ceremony for the students last Friday, Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, advised the students against lawlessness during the period.

He urged them to at all times adhere to the rules and regulations of the institution, indicating that “ignorance of the law is not an excuse”.

Prof. Ampiah reminded the students of the oath taken, saying “the oath you have taken today enjoins you to be of good behavior and also obey the vice chancellor who is the chief disciplinarian of the university as well as all other officers of the university”.
