Here Are A Few Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Christopher Opoku

The sports fraternity in Ghana has been saddened by the news of the passing of popular sports broadcaster, Christopher Opoku.

Christopher, who was survived by a wife and three daughters had been battling rectum cancer for about five years now.

On the surface, he was an accomplished Sports Broadcaster, but there is more to him than meets the eye.

Here are 5 things you didn’t know about Christopher Opoku:

Past Work Experience: Before starting a career in radio, while still at KNUST, Christopher worked as a part-time teacher at computer school in Kumasi.

Musician: Besides sports, his other love was music. In 2011, he released his own album titled “Oye Mame” meaning “it is good for me” under the name Chris Opoku.

Birth Place: Though Christopher lived most of his life in Ghana, he was born in Scotland, United Kingdom.

World Cup: Christopher was undoubtedly one of Ghana’s best sports broadcasters, yet, he never covered a FIFA World Cup. He called it his biggest regret in his sporting career.

Tertiary Education: Christopher studied at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and graduated in 2001 with a degree in computer science.
