Just days after the University of Cape Coast (UCC) suspended 22 students for their role in the clashes between Oguaa and Atlantic (ATL) halls, a UCC alumni body has issued a stinging response to the university’s action.
The alumni has also threatened to take legal action against the university, should it fail to reinstate the students.
The four-page statement from the leadership of the Atlantic Hall Alumni Association (AHAA) described the university’s decision as being “very backward and very deficient with common sense.”

“It is very colloquial and smacks on modern methods of conflict resolution” and that AHAA “will duly institute a legal process” if the university does not recall the suspended students,” the Emmanuel Owusu Boakye, AHAA Secretary, signed statement said.

The group claims that in an attempt to absolve themselves from blame, management of the University and Central Regional Police have pushed the blame on the student leadership of the Atlantic Hall.
The Responsibility “does not lie on executives or planning committee members to ensure security in the University,” it said.
