KNUST Dean Of Student Is Against Expelling Students Based On Academics

The outgoing President of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Students’ Representative Council (KNUST-SRC), Samuel Amoako-Kusi has disclosed that the KNUST Dean of Students is against the dismissal of students based on the university’s academic policy.

Samuel said the fact that the Dean of Students is supporting the initiative of not expelling students based on academic policy had been a great honor to him.

In his State of the SRC Address to the KNUST Parliament, Samuel Amoako-Kusi said his main challenge as President was that he “could not draw the line between loyalty and competence” and that he could not do much after noticing that his more than 70 appointees “were incompetent.”

“My headache was that I concentrated more on my appointees. But you owe the students more than you owe your appointees,” he said as an advice to the KNUST SRC Elect, David Dannah.

Meanwhile, touting some of his achievements as KNUST SRC President, Samuel said the SRC was able to get artistes such as Sarkodie and M.anifest to perform during the SRC Week Legacy Night.

Moreover, there are “new shuttles that have been brought in and they will be working for 24 hours,” he said.

Samuel expressed general gratitude for having served as the KNUST SRC President saying quite simply “the job is done.”
