
Dennis Akoto, the 22 years old Economics and Information Studies final year student of the University of Ghana who was reported to have drowned that the university’s pool on Saturday actually died at the hospital.
Sources at the University of Ghana sports directorate dismissed rumours that the final year student was pronounced dead at the poolside when he was removed from the water.
An official at the poolside who gave his name as BB, revealed that Dennis Akoto was rushed to the University of Ghana hospital and died some hours later, Radio Universe reports.
According to reports, Dennis, who was described as an avid swimmer had gone to the poolside in the company of his friends for an afternoon relaxation.
The Director of the University of Ghana hospital who also confirmed the incident to Radio Universe said “Although he drowned at the poolside, he was resuscitated at the hospital”.
He urged the University community to be patient and desist from making speculations about the Dennis’ cause of death until final investigations are carried out.
His body has since been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
