#GIJDecides: 18 Contest 6 SRC Positions

Students of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) are voting today to elect executives to occupy various Students’ Representative Council (SRC) offices.

The hotly contested election has featured captivating of social media campaigns and on campus class to class campaigns by all the 18 aspirants.

Today’s election is day one of the two-day election that is designed to give weekend students the opportunity to also decide who runs the affairs of GIJ-SRC for the next academic year. The weekend students will vote on Sunday.

There are six presidential aspirants comprising of Sekyere Atuahene Kwasi, Jean-Philip Lawson, Nicholas Antwi, Yussif Mohammed Basit, Martin Thompson Ntem and Jonathan Adjei Mawutor.

The office of Women’s organizer is contested by Antoanette Emefa Kedzi, Justina Odoi, Hilda Afi Mensah, Shemimah Dapilaa and Bridget Ama Gyamfi.

Tony Bonsu and Osei Kwame Wise are going uncontested for the office of the Organizing Secretary and Financial Secretary, respectively.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel Alpha, Richard Okai Frimpong and Princess Erwina Ndom are contesting each other for the General Secretary position.

Joshua Gyamfi and Samson Afordofe want to the GIJ electorate to choose between them for the office of External Affairs.
