Voting is underway and students at the University of Education, Winneba are voting for a new crop of executives to run its Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for the next 12 months.

The students are making a choice between SRC Presidential aspirants who are either promising “One student One modem” or a dustbin every 100m.

Presidential aspirant, Joseph Agyei is a Level 200 Bachelor of Arts in English Language student and among his campaign promises is to provide each student a modem. He has gained the nickname “Nana in UEW” for his one student one modem promise.

 

Meanwhile, his only opponent, Patrick Agyei is a Level 200 Bachelor of Business Administration student. He has promised to improve the WiFi connectivity on campus and reverse the university’s rules that barred students from using electronic appliances in their halls

According to the universities SRC constitution, an aspirant must obtain 50% plus one vote before being declared as winner of the elections.

Some 18,000 students are expected to cast their vote at 12 polling stations in today’s elections.
