Joe Mettle is the first ever gospel musician to win the Artist of the Year award the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Since the inception of the awards some sixteen years ago, no gospel musician has ever won the award.
The Artiste of the Year award is given to the most outstanding artiste of the immediate past year and was first awarded to Highlife artiste Daddy Lumba.
Joe Mettle also won two more awards on the night, Best Male Vocalist and Gospel Artist of the Year.
