OPINION: Our BAR III Favorite – Shine

As the BAR III was launched about a couple of  weeks ago, we have all been listening to the various tracks to appreciate EL some more and also continue to wonder why he lost out on the BET Best African Act category nomination. No disrespect to the nominee of that category. She is an amazing artiste and I applaud her efforts in succeeding in a male dominated industry.

Fast forward to the sixteen track album that has hit us real good this month, there is a particular song I find very interesting and the theme for it is even more exciting. It speaks about shinning bright no matter the situation .We all know EL as an amazing crooner of hooks but this time he let another amazing singer claim the glory as he collaborated with Ayisi Ican popularly known as AI. Before the BAR III was dropped I was wondering what jam the two could have put together when I saw the album list with SHINE FT AI at number sixteen. Not so long ago DJ Vision put him on his banger called ‘Grind’ and he slayed it completely, but this one with EL is a whole new level. Social media received SHINE with enthusiasm and quickly sprinkled encouraging comments on it as one twitter user actually entreated FIFA to get the song as an anthem for it’s next World Cup.

It starts with the usual smooth bars from EL we all love and then slides into a hook before AI takes over with his amazing vocals and a verse you cannot learn without the help of the internet. The instruments make it extra beautiful as the “Anger Management” singer gives us the real touch of pop to it. It is inspiring and for a certain reason AI keeps coming back to me as Nate Ruess from the boy band FUN which recently encountered a split. Everyone who has downloaded the album as at yet would immediately say that SHINE has a grip on them.
