Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, has said he has started a ten days hunger strike to protest against pardon given to the infamous Montie trio.

Montie trio, Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and Seidu Maase were convicted to four months imprisonment and were fined ten thousand cedis each for using unsavory comments on live radio and undermining the judiciary.

Their conviction saw Ministers of State and some National Democratic Congress’ big wigs open and signing a book of petition which was later sent to the president to exercise his article 72 powers in the 1992 constitution to pardon the trio.

In a stament Monday, President Mahama granted remission to the three inmates.

But an angry lawyer Ampaw believes that the pardon will undermine the powers of the Justices who sat on the case at the supreme court and has therefore vowed to go on a ten-day hunger strike to protest the decision.

He added that he will go on a nationwide campaign to educate the electorates on why they should vote Mahama out.
