The labour ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has suspended new admissions of patients due to the breakdown of some equipment. It was reported yesterday that the anesthetic machine at the wards’ theatre has broken down, forcing staff to refer emergency cases to other facilities.
As at now, nothing has been said about fixing the machines or bringing in a new one. This means that pregnant women with complications or emergency cases, would have to look for alternative sources of care.
However, the hospital is attending to patients that are already on admission.
