A few days ago, Makho Ndlovu, a US-based celebrity blogger was granted an interview with Jay Z’s cousin Briant “Bee-High” Biggs, Roc Nation’s Director of Mobile Stategies about the label delving into Africa. Bee-High, who was sent by Jay Z to look for talent in Africa, mentioned that Roc Nation is starting with Nigeria in order to amplify impact because that’s where film, music and everything else is happening.
He also stated, “Nigeria controls 75% of the music that’s being played on the continent so going to into Nigeria made more logical sense.”
Tiwa Savage signed a distribution deal with the label months ago and this made her the first African act to join the company.
“We are going country by country. I am already talking to Sarkodie in Ghana to do something with him…I got something in Gambia, Gabon and Senegal. We have it all spread out. Even in South Africa I am grabbing one artist out of there”, he added.
Roc Nation Records is a full-service entertainment company. Writers and producers under this record include Rihanna, Vic Mensa, Shakira, J. Cole, Meek Mill, Big Sean and Willow Smith.
