You Can Now Apply For A Twitter Verification

With such an incredible number of parody accounts on twitter, verification makes finding the accounts you’re actually looking for way less of a game of chance. A lot of us are used to seeing actors, musicians and other types of celebrities verified but hardly ever regular twitter people. Things are going to change now; anyone at all can now apply for twitter verification.

According to a spokesperson from Twitter, the company approves account types maintained by users in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas. If you believe your account is of public interest and should be verified you should apply.

To be able to complete the verification form your account must have the following:

  1. A verified phone number
  2. A confirmed email address
  3. A bio
  4. A profile photo
  5. A header photo
  6. A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization accounts)
  7. A website
  8. Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings

The reactions to the opening up of the verification process are mixed. Some people feel it’s great everyone has a chance to get verified (a chance to apply at least) while other people feel verification being open to all makes the blue verified badge a lot less valuable. Tell us what you think in the comments.
