The announcement of MzVee’s BET Award Nomination on May 20 left many Ghanaians disgruntled because in their opinion, she didn’t deserve the nomination.
She attended the Awards in Los Angeles where she lost out on the ‘Best International Act : Africa’ award at the 2016 BET Awards to South Africa’s DJ Black Coffee.
South Africa’s AKA and Cassper Nyovest, Nigeria’s Wizkid and Yemi Alade, Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz and Ivory Coast’s Serge Beynaud were the other competitors in the category.
In a recent interview MzVee expressed her sentiments on how Ghanaians failed to give adequate support to musicians. The Lynx Entertainment act, speaking from LA said;
“I definitely had support from my true fans but there were people that didn’t agree with the situation but at the end of the day you cannot get everyone to be in the same boat with you. It’s like that in every aspect of life. That said, I would have wished people supported me much more because when I came to LA other countries were supporting their people and I hope in the future Ghana will do more. But I think I got the support I needed from my true fans the Tip Toers. I’m happy with the turn out”
“They took me from a place where I was not the happiest person and I was messed up and I had my fair share of deceit but they molded me into the brand that I am today. I say a very thank you to them. They are the reason why I’m here. If they didn’t root for me I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
