The matte lipstick trend is a tricky one. Some get it going with no trouble, whereas some of us look like unsuccessful experiments when we wear them. But the truth is, there are ways to reduce the chances of having the ‘experimental’ look. Let’s get through some ideas for getting the best matte lipstick effect.

Exfoliate Your Lips.

Matte lipsticks tend to bring out the flaws of the lips, so you have to exfoliate your lips to get them to bring out the smoothness and softness. Exfoliation gets rid of peeling skin. You can do your own scrub for your lips by mixing honey and sugar and rubbing it in gently on your lips or even applying Vaseline with a soft toothbrush. This works not only for matte but all types of lippies.

Conceal Your Lips.

To make the matte colour pop, apply concealer all over to your lips and blend it out. This helps with getting neat and beautiful results. It brings out the true shade of the lipstick.

Moisturize.

Now go ahead and moisturize your lips, just a little bit, with lip balm, shea butter or even Vaseline. This is because matte lipstick dries out the lips and gives it an undesirable cakey effect. Your lippie wouldn’t flake too!

Liner Time!

Line your lips, start with the lip outlines and eventually fill in the lips entirely with the liner. This will help you achieve beautiful and neat results and a longer lasting look, your matte colour will look more intense and richer.

Apply The Lippie.

Rubbing your lips while applying matte lipstick is so not advisable. Use a brush in order to get the product all over your lips. To get a long lasting effect, place a tissue between your lips and press your lips to the tissue and apply another coat of the lippie to your lips, this adds intensity to the colour.

Yeah I know, it seems like a lot but trust me, it’s totally worth it in the end. Try them out and let us know how it goes.
