
Today, our #WCW for the week is special. We are taking a look at all the lucky female artistes who were nominated at this year’s VGMAs. It hasn’t been an easy journey coming this far. For some, it is their first time being nominated, while others have already been nominated a couple of times. These are all the special female artistes who made it;
MzVee
Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda is her name but her stage name is MzVee, she is signed to the Lynx Entertainment Record Label. She won the new artiste of the year at the VGMAs 2015. This year, she had seven slots which is the highest number of nominations amongst all her female colleagues. Efya
Jane Fauzzier Awindor is popularly known in showbiz circles as Efya. Apparently she has won awards more than all the other female artistes we have as #WCW She is our first #WCW for the week, particularly the ”best female vocalist” category. She has won that category consecutively and she was nominated there this year too, so we wait to see what happens. Efya is signed to One Nation Entertainment label. Irene Logan
Irene Logan of iLog Production does not have any exceptional showbiz name aside her real name. She was a bit a laid back in the music industry because she had to attend to parenting and family duties. Becca
Rebecca Akosua Acheampomaa Acheampong is known on stage as Becca. She is a signed artiste on the EKB Record label. She has previously been nominated a couple of times in the VGMAs. This year, her song ”Hwe” had a nomination in the ”highlife song of the year” category. She has been nominated and has won awards locally and internationally. Yaa Yaa
Bridget Kankam, was the winner of the fourth edition of ‘Stars of the Future’ reality show, was formerly called Bertha but now Yaa Yaaa. She had three nominations in this year’s VGMAs with her ”Dumb Drum” track. You can Follow her on Instagram: @yaayaa_gh
Adina
Adina Thembi Ndamse is her real name but she is known as Adina on stage. She was the winner of the Stars Of The Future in 2008. Her classic track ”Coastal Vibes” featuring Trigmatic and ”Boom Boom Beat” got her two nominations in this year’s VGMAs. You can follow her on: @adina_th3mbi
Ak Songstress
Akosua Kwakye is the real name of Ak Songstress. She is a Paradise Entertainment signed dancehall artiste. She was nominated in the Reggae/Dancehall Song and Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the year categories. Her song ”Holiday” was nominated. You can follow her on Instagram: @aksongstress
Obaaapa Christy

Patience Nyarko

Mary Owusu
This is the first time Mary Owusu has also been nominated. Her track ”W’ow nkwa wo wor Ade” got her a single nomination after numerous complains complains last year that she was cheated by the VGMA board.
