Esinam Elected As Legon SRC President – Second Female In 9years


History was made as Ms Esinam Afi Seade, was elected as University of Ghana SRC President. This is the second time in 9 years that a female student has been voted into power as an SRC President. She won in the second round because none of the candidates could get 50% + 1 Vote in the first round.  We can now officially say Ms Esinam Afi Seade is the current elected President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for the 2016/2017 academic year.

Ms Esinam Afi Seade had 3,655 votes representing 53.67% to beat her contender Mr Emmanuel Adu Amofa who garnered 3,206 votes representing 46.73% of the total valid votes cast in a presidential runoff election held on Thursday, 28th April, 2016.


Seven candidates competed in the first round of voting on Thursday, 21st April, 2016 and none of them were able to get the required percentage of votes resulting in a runoff between Esinam Afi Seade and Emmanuel Adu Amofa.

After Ms Louise Carol Donkor set the first record in 2007 to become the first elected female SRC President, history has repeated itself as Ms Esinam Afi Seade becomes the second female to rise to the high office in 9years via the ballot box in a competitive elections in 9 years.

Esinam is the former Miss Ecowas Ghana 2013 beauty queen. She is an old student of Keta Senior High School in the Volta Region and currently a level 300 student studying B.Arts (Psychology and English) at University of Ghana.
