Happy to be appointed tourism ambassador by the Minister of tourism. I’m happy to promote Tourism in Ghana and also sell Ghana to the rest of the world.#exploreghana #melomoment #melotourist.
That is how actor John Dumelo announced his appointment as Ghana’s tourism ambassador earlier this week.
On social media, many accused him of taking huge sum of money as part of the appointment. However, John has cleared the air; saying that “The ministry is not paying me, neither am I getting anything from it”. Explaining further, he said
The Ministry of Culture Tourism and Creative Arts appointed me because of my love for tourism. I have been a tourism advocate for over five years. I will still continue going to tourist attractions in Ghana, put it on my social media and let people know of the wonderful places Ghana has. It’s strictly voluntary
John Dumelo has been criticized by the NPP in the past for siding with the NDC despite the visible economic challenges in Ghana. In January, he tweeted that he did not see Nana Addo becoming the President.
