A source at the Upper East Regional Health services has disclosed to kuulpeeps.com that the region has so far recorded 18 cases of cerebrospinal meningitis with one death.
The Kuulpeeps source however mentioned that, the region is yet to record any case of pneumococal meningitis which has hit other regions with Brong Ahafo registering the highest number of cases.
In an interview with Upper East Regional Director of Health Services, Dr kofi Issah, he disclosed that the Regional Epidemic Management committee met on Thursday to roll out measures to contain the seasonal disease to avoid any epidermic.
He indicated that the committee will this week tour the various health facilities to ascertain their level of preparedness to contain the disease.
Dr. Issah was of the view that the chunk of the responsibility in helping avoid an epidemic in the region falls in the bosom of the public.
He therefore advised that cases should be reported early in order to save lives adding that people should avoid overcrowding in public places and make drinking a lot of water a part of them
