Abraham Atta Wins Spirits Award And Presents An Award At The Oscars But Here Is What Ghanaians Are Talking About

oscars-red-carpet-337-abraham-attah-superJumbo-v4Abraham Atta and Idris Elba his co-star in Beasts Of No Nation were lucky to win Best Male lead and Best supporting Male for their roles in the movie At the Independent Spirits Awards.

The Independent Spirit Awards (originally known as the FINDIE or Friends of Independents Awards), founded in 1984, are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers.

An independent film or indie film is a film production that usually has a small budget and is not produced by major studios. These movies usually employ raw talent and a lot of creativity.

Independent films are sometimes distinguishable by their content and style and the way in which the filmmakers’ personal artistic vision is realized. Usually, but not always, independent films are made with considerably lower budgets than major studio movies.

Abraham Atta also walked the Oscar red carpet in TOMS and a tux and presented an Award alongside Jacob Tremblay also a child actor.

In spite of all this, Ghanaian social media is on a row about his very Ghanaian accent and grammatical errors in his speech among other seeming trivial observations in the face of his big win over the weekend.
