MP’s Murder: What Mahama, Kufour, Akufo-Addo And Others Are Saying

Hon. Joseph Boakye Dankwah
Many have commented on the murder of the Abuakwa North MP, J.B. Dankwa-Adu. The unfortunate incident which happened yesterday at his Shiashie resident called for parliament to suspend sitting. Kuulpeeps have gathered what politicians have said so far about the incident.
Ex President Kufour has blamed foreign movies and the social media trend for recent gun and knife attacks in Ghana. According to him, stuff on the internet depicting murder have had a major influence on the average Ghanaian. It can be recalled that Hon. J.B Dankwah was the Deputy Miniter of Women and Children’s Affair during the erstwhile Kufour administration. Kufour has described him as a friend and a great person.
President Mahama, upon receiving the information, tweeted that he had lost a friend.
Received news of my friend Hon. J.B. Danquah Adu’s murder with shock. My heart goes out to his siblings, Frank etc, his wife & children.
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo, has eulogized him, calling him a stalwart and a friend who was his source of encouragement.

From the People`s National Convention (PNC), Presidential Candidate Dr. Edward Mahama has bemoaned the security of MPs in the country, questioning that if their homes are not safe enough, where else can they go for protection.

We are very sorry as a party that a life was snapped like that. We condemn this level of violence and we hope that our security forces will arrest the perpetrator and deal with him
Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo also asked MPs to consider buying guns to for their own protection.
If there is any MP who will not have the intention or even have the confidence or the knowledge of having a side arm, then it’s worrying. You should know that you have contested an election and some people lost because of you; and there are some who want to misbehave and you have to check them out. All these people become your enemy, so if you will only go and buy cement and iron rod and then put up a house without even looking for a side arm that will be approved of and licensed by the authorities for your personal protection, then you should have yourself to blame. We should be protecting our ourselves
The Member of Parliament for Manhyia, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has called for armed Police security for MPs, citing that they are high on the ladder in terms of leadership in the country. To him, the murder would not have happened if there were armed Police men on the ground at that time.
Kuulpeeps extend our heartfelt condolence to the family of the deceased.
