Schools In Eastern Region Get One Week Break For Paramount Chief’s Funeral

Oseadeeyo Addo DankwaSchools in the Eastern region have been given a week break due to the funeral activities of the Paramount Chief of Akuapim Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa. Nana Addo Dankwa passed on last year at the Korle-bu Teaching hospital. The funeral activities started on Monday, February 1st and expected to end on Monday February 8th.

Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service in the Eastern Region Emmanuel Asiedu Acheampong, confirmed the one week break; stating that a week will be added to the academic calendar for the students to make up for the lost time in school.

District Chief Executive for Akuapim North, George Opare Addo has also said that the week break will help to keep the students safe since many visitors will be coming to the town.

There is currently heavy security in the area for the week long funeral.
