What Mahama Said About Dumsor, Guantanamo Detainees And DKM Microfinance

President Mahama held a press conference at the Flagstaff House to address various issues; economic, social, security among others.

On Dumsor

According to him, following the work that has been done, there was sufficient generation at the moment but the major problem now was to do with providing fuel for the plants.

I believe that in the next eh!, let me not predict, in the next short while, we will be able to overcome the problem of load shedding. I have learnt to leave it to the technical people to talk about and they are having a major press briefing on Wednesday.

On Guantanamo Detainees

He denied pocketing US$300 million from the Government of the United States of America in connection with the transfer of two Guantanamo detainees: Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby.

What they are saying on social media that I collected 300 million to accept these detainees is absolutely, absolutely untrue

He also assured that detailed internal consultations were done before accepting the detainees and based on the consultations, they are not a threat to the country.

On Rumour Of The First Lady’s Affiliation to DKM

Many in the Brong Ahafo region have alleged that the owner of DKM microfinance has relations or affiliations to the Presidency. The President this morning denied the rumor and cautioned against people who use the name of the first family to gain favors.

This is the first time I saw in the newspapers the DKM man, a lanky tall chap has links with my wife. She does not know him.

DKM Microfinance

He however, assured that government will compensate those affected by the operations of DKM although it wouldn’t be the exact amount they lost.
