Kissi Agyabeng, lawyer for Asamoah Gyan, has revealed that the Attorney General has advised the court to close the docket on the rape and sodomy charges levelled against his client. According to him, the AG finds the evidence presented by Miss Sarah Kwablah through his attorney  Maurice Ampaw, as baseless and lacking substance.

Speaking on Adom FM, Lawyer Agyabeng reiterated his faith in the judiciary system and how happy Asamoah Gyan is about the development.

We are already aware that allegations which were leveled against Gyan were baseless and we were sure it will come to this. Asamoah Gyan and I are very happy.

However, speaking on the same platform, lawyer Ampaw expressed his confidence in the evidence he has and insisted the AG is not competent to clear Asamoah Gyan; that the AG can only advice on a case, in which case the court will be the decider on whether or not to clear Asamoah Gyan.

It is the court that decides and not the AG. A criminal case does not have an expiry date and so we will continue to fight and not allow the AG to compromise issues.

Lawyer Ampaw has said he  will organize a press conference with his team on 14th December to give an official statement on the latest development.
