Regional Police Commander of Volta Region, Mr Peterkin Yentumi Gyinae has confirmed the death of a first year female student of Ho Polytechnic who was stabbed by unknown assailant on Monday.
The deceased, Naomi Kpodzro, was found at the courtyard of Divine Star Hostel at 3:00 am after fellow residents rushed to the scene upon hearing a call for help from her. A student who narrated the incident to Citi news confirmed that she heard some footsteps which woke her up that dawn but could not see the assailant when she got to the scene.
I was in my room when I heard some footsteps so I woke up and then I heard someone shouting thief. So when I came out with my colleagues, we saw the lady lying on the floor and blood was oozing out of her and she was in pain. We didn’t even see the attacker but later when we went into her room, we saw blood on the lady’s bed and on the walls so we suspected the attacker may have struggled with her from her room.
Commander Gyinae, speaking on Accra-based Okay FM, assured that investigations are underway and his outfit is committed to finding the assailant. He therefore called on residents on the community to come to his office with any news concerning the incident.
This is the third time students in tertiary institutions have been stabbed to death this year.
