Well, although he lost out to Nigeria’s Arukaino Thomas Umukoro, Fiifi’s been nominated AGAIN, this time, for the 2015 Sports Media Pearl Awards, in an announcement at the Rosewood Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

The nomination comes on the back of his brilliant 2014 article “How The Black Stars Stabbed The Nation In Cold Blood”. The only other Ghanaian journalist nominated for this year’s Awards is ace sports journalist, Juliet Bawuah, who is in contention for the Audio Reporting award.

Fiifi is no stranger to international recognition. Aside his CNN nomination, Fiifi saw his 2013 freelance article “From Bawku to Buenos Aires”, about Bayan Mahmud’s journey to football stardom from his humble beginnings as a stowaway, translated into 4 languages and “syndicated across most of Goal.com’s international editions”.

Fiifi faces competition from 9 other finalists in his category, for the three available slots at the final awards ceremony.
